Ib Chemistry Experiment- Calculating Enthalpy Change

Chemistry inner Assessment find the Enthalpy compound of a version Reaction bewilder To determine the henry adjustment for the reception between copper(II) convert and atomic number 30. BACKGROUND scheme Bond happy chance is end early(a)mic magic spell bond practiceing is exoergic. The chemical response between copper(ll) sulphate and zinc is exothermic as the zippo required to form the bonds of the products is greater than the capacity required to moroseend the bonds of the reactants. In an exothermic reply, hop up is apt(p) off to the purlieu thus, temperature of the environs go forth increase. By beat the revision in the temperature and using the edict Q= mc?T, we nookie calculate the total commove change of the reaction. par 1 CuSO4 + Zn ? ZnSO4 Ionic comparison Zn (s) + Cu2+ (aq) ? T =mass of solution ? specific heat capacity of solution ? temperature change = 25 ? 4. 18 ? 45. 5 = 4754. 75 J In the examine, 25cm3 of 1. 0 breakwater dm-3 copper(II) sulfate solution was used. Thus, number of moles of the copper(II) sulfate solution used n(CuSO4) = (25? 000) ? 1. 0 = 0. 025 mol Therefore, the hydrogen change, in kJ/mol, for this reaction is ?H = Q ? n(CuSO4) = 4754. 75 ? 0. 025 = -190. 19 kJ/mol Theoretical shelter/ Accepted respect= ? 217 kJ/mol Thus, division misconduct = (? 217+190. 19) ? (? 217) ? hundred = 12. 35% culmination Thus, based on the experiment, the enthalpy change for the reaction is -190. 19 kJ/mol. However, as we shado w cod from the above calculations, the percentage error is 12. 35%. This way that the result is wide from the theoretical set of -217 kJ/mol by 12. 35%.From the graph, we lav in any case see that once zinc is added to the solution (at exactly 3 minutes), the temperature of the solution increases until it reaches the terminal or maximum temperature of 61C. Then, the temperature of the solution step by step decreases until it reaches room temperature once again (temperature of the surroundings). EVALUATION (WHAT smoke BE through with(p) TO IMPROVE THE experiment? ) An assumption do for this experiment is that none of the heat produced by the exothermic reaction is lost to the surroundings and that the thermometer records the temperature change accurately. However, this is very unlikely to appen in reality, which would explain the percentage error. Thus, to improve the experiment, we butt try to smear the heat loss to the surroundings. This burn down be done by place a pie ce of composition board (or any other insulated material) on top of the cup to exsert the top of the cup. A hole throw out then be made in the cardboard for the thermometer. other measure that we can take is to escort that our eye is direct with the thermometer when reading the temperature off the thermometer. We can also repeat the experiment a fewer times and stool the average of the results recorded. This would lay off us to cause a more than accurate value.

A BUSINESS PLAN FOR ROXE APPAREL Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

A BUSINESS PLAN FOR ROXE APPAREL - Essay ExampleThese initial costs go forth be used for rent, recruitment, salaries and start-up expenditures. spot serving the whole family, Roxe App arel will focus more on the younger people aged between 16 and 35, because they are the cream of the vesture market. Introduction The apparel industry in the UK is a very lucrative one. However, it also has many barriers to entry. Nevertheless, there are many opportunities due to a proceeds of possibilities that the fashion subsectror in the industry offers. Starting a business in the industry can be challenging only also highly rewarding. In this regard, it is prudent and worthy to start a habilitate fellowship in UK. The following is a business plan for starting a clothing company in the UK. The company will be called Roxe Apparel and will seek to serve the UK market as a medium class apparel company. The market for middle class clothing is very big in the UK, and it will be easier for such a new firm to commence its operations. The firm will concent score on the younger generations as the main market niche, but will also serve the whole family. Competitor Analysis The environment The clothing industry is a very competitive industry due to the fact that it is affected by some special factors which do not impact incompatible industries (Gwilt and Rissanen, 2011). Popularity is a very important issue in the clothing industry since customers always buy from the clothing companies they are already used to. Unlike former(a) basics needs, clothes are some of the few basic products which people choose carefully where they buy because that also matters. In other words, an individual may choose to buy from a more expensive memory if the store is popular, and not to buy the exact same product from a cheaper one if the store is regarded lowly (Shishoo, 2012). This is especially so in the UK clothing market where competition is so tough and there are so many already naturalized clothing firms. At the same time, most UK people are loyal customers, who choose to follow one brand and not to try many different ones. Creating the balance between branding the company as a popular one and giving the customer the best price is always a argufy in the clothing industry, and this is going to be a bigger concern for Roxe because it is a new firm. No clothing firm wants to be regarded as cheap, but at the same time, it is necessary to give the customers the best price. This makes already established firms more popular and entry into the industry very difficult. The main competitors that Roxe Apparel will face include established firms. These businesses already stand firmly on the ground and have a well established rapport with the customers in terms of knowing what the customer wants and expects. They have also been able to relate well with suppliers, which is a very important thing with regard to the fact that it determines how successful a business is going to be i n the market. Economies of outdo The other competitors are well established and have achieved higher economies of scale, which Roxe Apparel will not be able to reach in its initial months. This will mean that they will be able to compete more strongly in the market. As Briscoe (1971) argues, economies of scale are important for any business in the clothing industry because this is the only way to beat the market challenges. Customer service Most of the competitors rate very lowly in this respect and cannot make their customers happy. This is because most of them are large firms and therefore find it harder to create useful customer service. Large firms are also quite old, which increases the risk that they have not evolved enough to apply the concepts appropriate to the modern business environment (Kotter, 1998).

Cooperative Strategy - Case Study ExampleThis is so especially when the industry wants to accrue most benefits from the collaboration. For the movement of Apple inc. the joint ventures are the most appropriate. For instance through joint alliances with their companies such as HP, the company would benefit from designing software that will compose network links with the two companies (Hitt, Ireland & Hoskisson 263). This combination will create a more competitive Apple as opposed to it working alone. The same applies for HP that would benefit for multiple partnerships from other companies such as IBM (Hitt, Ireland & Hoskisson 270). This will help HP create value for its products and still come up with a meat of sharing resources and become more innovative in its creations. Hitt, Ireland & Hoskisson also say that through these alliances, firms gain access to their partners thus, an increase in the chances of competitive advantage in the market

Managerial Decision Making Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

Managerial Decision Making - Essay ExampleI have also been asked to perform a self paygrade of the finishs made and to evaluate them myself as to whether I think they were a success or failure for the organization. My supervisor has asked me to email him this evaluation as part of my make yearly evaluation which will be used to decide my yearly bonus, so I have decided to make it as professional as possible. Discussion In posting my self evaluation regarding some recent decisions that I have made for the college, I have decided to evaluate to each one decision in terms of the six steps mentioned by Bazerman and Moore (2008) in their text and use this as a guide to determine whether each decision was a success or a failure. In this context I would like to define success as being an outcome where it has resulted in a reduction of effort on the part of staff or automated a process or reduced cost or improved the prime(a) and efficiency of the college and its staff. If it did none o f these things, I would regard it as a failure. The Office of Fiscal Affairs where I work is responsible for receiving and allocating funds for college use, as healthful as safeguarding financial assets. We must also conform to all Federal and State laws as well as maintain adequate internal have over the assets with which it has been entrusted. As the Senior Accountant, my objective has always been to minimize burdensome and time-consuming procedures in order to affect the flow of business transactions as smoothly and conveniently as possible. In this post, I will sh are with you some of my findings from the audit and how I intend to fix them as well as avoid repetitions of these errors in the future. Finding 1 Grant Expenditures Coded to Operating Expenses During my audit I noted that there were no set procedures for the invoicing of grant expenditures. Many cost that were allowable as Federal and State grant costs were recorded as general costs instead. The Finance Director and the Grants Manager did not prepare and review the expenditures for inclusion as Federal or State grant expenditures. The current invoicing practice has contributed to the Colleges delay in recording revenue in a timely and complete manner. The optimal decision would be to correctly code allowable costs to the proper Federal and State grants so as to increase cash collections and better maintain the accuracy of the Grants Receivable balance. I strongly refer that management investigate this problem and I further suggest that a formal policy and procedure be adopted to classify revenues, costs and expenses so that accounting personnel have a clear certificate of indebtedness and involvement in the approval of invoices sent to the Colleges grantors. In fact the College has procedures in place for processing grant expenditures. The previous administration elected not to use these processes which include collaboration with the grants department, administration and the business offic e. The College is reviewing this process and taking appropriate action to ensure that clear responsibility for the approval and classification of expenditures are understood in expenditures of Federal and State grants. The review process includes more involvement of the Grants Office and the Accountant in the Business Office that is responsible for accurate expenditure and billing for

BudgetExpenditure analysis - Assignment ExampleWhile this may be possible in many organizations, in Monroe county Red Cross, it might not be fully possible especi wholey because of the nature of focal point of the organization. To start with, to the highest degree of its incomes are from donations and other incomes of the same nature. It may be difficult to establish exactly what amount is spent in preparation activities. Moreover, the organization is more than of a charitable organization concerned with offering services and not profit maximization. All in all, expenditure analysis must be carried out more so to convince well wishers and donors that their funds are being spent in a good manner. In Monroe county Red Cross, the process often takes quadruplet main stages which are dependent on one another. For a comprehensive summary of expenditure analysis, it ought to start at the budget preparation stage. Here all the relevant factors are taken into consideration. It is in the pr ocess of budgeting that speculations of spending are made. Despite the fact that in many instances these speculations are not accurate, they give the management a rough idea of the likely range of expenditures. Though it is often overlooked by many institutions including the Monroe county Red Cross, expenditure analysis ought to start at this point. The items in the budget ought to be reviewed and confirmations made on whether or not they are likely to cost as much as stipulated in the budget. afterwards the process of budget preparation, approval needs to be done. In many instances and many organizations, this step is the where the budget expenditures are analysed. The purpose of this step is to eradicate extraneous expenditures that may be fixed to acquire money in unscrupulous ways. Depending on the views of the management and the urgency of the expenditures, they may be approved or jilted in the budget. This is still some form of expenditure analysis. After the approval

Greek Philosophy - Essay ExampleProtagoras law - the person is a measure of all things - better than anything characterizes the changes in peoples interests. They represent a new estate, which being employed in training to eloquence and using logic arguments as arts, naturally in this business was supervised not with a pure aspiration to scotch the truth, but aspiration to shine and win in verbal dispute. Characteristic for this philosophy, dictated to sophists by conditions surrounding them and their position in life, are empiric-skeptical (with respect to questions of speculative value) and utilitarian-egoistical (with respect to questi ons of practical actions) points of view. The content and volume of our knowledge are entirely defined by our own sensual perceptions. Such perceptions, being subjectively changeable, cannot occupy valid knowledge at all. Task 1 1-a Formation of a contract This question is about contract, the problem in this question requires a discussion of offer, invitation to treat, counter-offer, acceptance and in particular the postal rule. Each of these elem ents will be discussed in turn and an evaluation of the facts would be made thereafter. Contracts and its formation and giving legal effect to them is a matter which has been scrutinized critically by case law and statutes. The contract being formed is dependent upon an offer, which in turn requires an acceptance upon the conclusion of which question of servant is concerned (Mackendrick, 2009). As per Professor Atiyah, the issue of offer and acceptance has been determined by courts in two ways, that is reason forwards and reason backwards, the occasion is where existence of offer and acceptance are determined first and then the conclusion on the dispute is made the latter is where the courts can reason from the enamour solution back to the legal concepts of offer and acceptance (Atiyah et al, 2006). Offer has been defined as an intent of readiness on the part of one party who is called an offeror, so as to be bound by the terms that he states, subject to the fact that such an off er is accepted by the offeree (the person to whom the offer is made) unconcditionally. thither has been a distinction drawn between an invitation to treat and offer and the former is said to be intent of readiness of a party so as to start negotiations and is therefore not unconditional (Fisher v Bell)1. The two main cases in this respect are Gibson v Manchester City Council2 and Storer v Manchester City Council3. In Gibson, the treasurer issued a letter to G whereby it was stated that the Council may sell the house to him, was construed to be an invitation to treat, this was affirmed by the situation that G was requested to withdraw a formal application for purchase to be made.. The approach taken by the court was that they took the correspondence between the parties into consideration when determining the outcome. Contrary to that the courts, in Storer said there was a contract which was present as the matter had moved beyond the phase of negotiations. An offer should be differen tiated from a immaculate statement of price that is an enquiry as to the price (Harvey v. Facey)4 (Mackendrick, 2009). The courts have found advertisements to be an invitation to treat (Partridge v Crittenden)5, however, interpretation of courts has led to certain exceptions and the reasons cited for it are the endeavor to be bound and certainty (Carlill v Carbolic Smoke Ball Co.)6. Display of goods in shops are generally held to be invitation to treat (Fisher v. Bell) (Furmston et al. 2007). In respect of Doris placing the vase on her shop it would be held to be an invitat

Hence post registration skill development has remained little, if any. But the role extension has been interpreted as common practice during the duration of service so radiographers too have moved up to clinical practice and higher academics and research (Henwood 2003). However, if the radiographers blueprint to remain in practice, then also CPD helps in achieving supervisory and/or specialist positions. Achieving higher positions is a biggest incentive for a radiographer to undertake CPD even if he has to arrange for it on his own. Due to work pressures howeve r employers are reluctant to release staff for CPD (Brown, 2009). The radiography is considered a career with monotony and routine work, strained workload with little credit and family consideration by the school students (Coombs et al, 2003). Moreover lack of clarity of a programme makes radiographer reluctant to go for it. The present term attempts to critically evaluate the various CPD options available to radiographers for job satisfaction and career advancement. It has been clearly indicated by Department of Health (as cited in ODonoghue, 2006, p92) allied health go personnel must regularly update their knowledge through CPD. Its working together-learning together document emphasised the need stating it necessary for improved patient care and better opportunities for professionals. It has stated that radiographers must maintain and strive to improve their professional knowledge and competence... Every patient is entitled to be cared for by radiographers with relevant and up-to-date skills and expertise. Therefore all radiographers must undertake lifelong learning and will keep a record of their ongoing development activities... The Society and college considers that CPD, lifelong learning, periodic appraisal and revalidation must be compulsory to ensure and maintain competence, as well as enabling radiographers to gain knowledge and competencies outside(a) their scope of practice (SOR 2009, p1).The radiographers professional and other bodies thought of CPD when some efforts by NHS to appoint non-medical consultants did not succeed fully as there was lack of befittingly qualified and experienced consultants. Moreover, the clinical and educational pathways to prepare potential consultants are also ill defined (Hardy & Snaith, 2007). The study necessitates upgrading the rudimentary training in radiography to make subsequent CPD effective.Cherry and Duxbury (1998) have felt that in spite of training at higher educational institutions i.e universities, the radiographers are equipped only with basic competences. The half life of this knowledge is only 2-5 years so it can not provide the competency for life time. It is more so in these times considering the rapid technology changes.

The Value of Christian Higher Education Essay Example for Free

The Value of Christian Higher Education EssayIntroduction The choice of getting an education in fix up to prep are a future career or vocation is daunting for some especially those who believe the effects of teaching that anyone will receive from a particular institution. In these days of violence not only in streets but similarly within the campuses, people generally start to think challenging ab out(p) the education young people get within the academic halls. It is no wonder also that the family think hard where they spend the children to school. The essence of this authorship then is whether Christian Higher Education distinctly can mould and contribute much to the development of citizens in their responsibilities toward the community where they r learn. This paper attempts to describe the foster of Christian higher education and seeks to convince the reader about the contributions that belonging and training in academic institutions that incorporate the Biblical princip les (White 1911).It starts with family values Every mob has its set of beliefs or tradition that they hold in high esteem. This is referred to as family values. Anything that the family believes is important comprises a family values system. Among the values an individual possesses, the most important is that a soulfulness must regard most his/her values about family as the most significant. Many people dont usually pause and theorize what their values are. They may not know whether these values they already have are still practical or useful in a late day world. More all over, they do not think how their values fit in with their kind of milieu that they evolve in. There are families that take time out though to impart to their children what had been passed on to them when they too were yet very young. The values may not be as strong as when were yet children because the person may have adapted to his world and adjusted his values that new(prenominal)s may be accommodated. Thr ough the years, a family value system may be a combination of what had been passed on to an individual and the values system of ones friends or colleagues at work. Why are family values important? The primary former is that what people hold as important affects how they use time, money and energy. If a family believes the importance of education then parents try to save for the schooling of their children which includes books among others. Family values do work how individuals spend their resources and founder decisions. Parents then need to communicate what their own family values are, why these are important and the specifics of what are most essential that the children must also adopt or follow. Children also need to respect others who have dissimilar value system as compared to their own. Most likely values will evolve but when parents lead the children and model these beliefs, their children will be able to learn and pass these on to the next generation (Values what are they? 2007).Discussion Christianity presents as an ideology, persuasion and religion that is relevant as comfortably as able to offer lasting solutions to the ills of individuals and societies. Because of this premise, churches ever since the pioneering days were and are instrumental in the training and upbringing of children. Historical Background The history of American Christian education in general point to the primary influence of the church in the organic law of education both with what is now secular and the faith based types. The American Christian Schools approximately blossomed around the 1700s (House p2 2007 Kazanjian on Walsh p.1 2006). The schools around these decades were actually classified as more sectarian, that is, more Christian in practice and persuasion than their secular counterparts and not only that outnumber the latter in terms of demographics. Protestant schools then, harmonise to Houses research, had been very rigid in terms of bulk and types of academic mat ters.Back then, their educational instruction consisted of classical languages, literature and none other than Biblical instructions. What made it more complicated was that the Biblical studies were also based on both the Hebrew and the Greek languages. Aside from these they also had to do the Iliad in the Greek version alongside Latin versions of Tacitus historical accounts. Even in the elementary levels a typical child in some schools during the 1700s were able polite such feats as finishing the elementary grades with the aforementioned subjects. The thrust for college students during these early American Christian Schools on the other hand were to establish their abilities to reason, analysis and military position which can be derived from a lengthy time spent on languages both the modern and the ancient at the same time weighty standard of time and efforts on maths. During these times however, the colleges and schools effectively instilled among their students a love for the institution and the especially patriotic loyalty to the country (White 1911). Results of a Christian training The rationale for such rigidity and highly verbal and personalized form of instructions was primarily a pause comprehension and understanding of the Scriptures. The Bible then is fundamental to the instructive process and where the activities revolved around the applications of the biblical truths. This was what was called as the colonial beginnings and continued on to the 1900s where the impetus was to instill the values drawn from inspiration of the Christian faith. The results that this kind of education bore on the society had been very influential and significantly important. Aside from instilling a high sense of individual morality not only in the academic performance, what was more important was that there was a prevailing worldview which was Christian. The results as well do not spill over only in their generation but benefit more those in the next generation (Daw son 1989). The premise for training students whether in the elementary to the collegiate or university level was to introduce the person to the mind of Christ and inculcate that kind of mind to the individual as he translates this worldview or persuasion into his/her everyday activities. immaculate Christian education is word-oriented which implies that whatever compromises made today to enhance classroom instructions which maybe basically Christian, cannot equate with what was then introduced during the Colonial days (Dawson 1989). raw Christian Education and its wages In schools such as the Seattle Pacific University which claims to have Christian philosophical perspective in their stance and training, the school argues that their advantage over others such as public secular schools in particular, has to with specifics like more focused thought and smaller number of students per class. This is to ensure that the students receive better awareness and consideration from their ins tructors which usually boosts the morale of the student/s. The extensive help and advantages that students will gain from a Christian education encompass the morals and ethical motive consistently taught inside the four walls of the classroom (Veith 1994).Disadvantage of Present Secular or Public School Higher Education Students today are open(a) to a kind of education which at the surface attempts to integrate what is called a holistic viewpoint where values, democracy, intellectualism and humanistic understandings are introduced alongside art, English or languages, mathematics and others. To look from a distance these may probably develop a student to be more resilient or flexible, more tolerant of differing views which is called for in this era of diversity. However, the main and essential drawback comes in the form of a lack of clear focus or direction and no apparent or diaphanous line of worldview to follow. The result is a person or individual whose sympathies and understand ing of his/her world may change from time to time and consequently his/her attitudes, actions and behavior in many respects of their lives (Rushdoony 1963).Conclusion The value that Christian education has introduced me personally is tremendous. Many aspects in my life especially many decisions that are made are anchored on the many opportunities that the Christian faith had influenced me through the school where I am being taught. What are the specific benefits I gained? The ethical and moral bearings that had helped me make decisions that impact my life and the lives of people around me. This is important since whatever choice I make in some areas of my life, sooner or later this play to affect those who love me and are supportive of me.The training is definitely different because it looks into how we treat others in the very basic human relations level. A Christian in the true sense of the word embodies one who deeply respects others even if they do not have the same religious pe rsuasion as theirs. This is what I have observed distinctly from the general ambience of what secular schools have produced in their studentry and in their graduates.Lastly, the school personnel and staff as well as many in the teaching crew are convinced as well of the Christian faith that they are representing. Although not all may be embracing the same belief or measure of spirituality, nonetheless, there is an unwritten as well as commitment to the policies that are reflective of Scriptural truths. Tracing the historical roots of this countrys school system back to colonial America, it is with great envy that what we have in our schools today or the Christian Schools are being hailed as Christian are actually far from the quality which characterized their colleges or academic institutions. Though difficult, they were able to harness the beaver for a better nation.ReferenceValues what are they?2007. Family Works University of Illinois extension.
